The 7th house in astrology has a seductive pull. It’s where we seek the other, the one who completes, challenges, and reveals us. It’s the house of committed partnerships, yes, but don’t let Hallmark cards fool you, this house runs much deeper than wedding vows and Valentine’s Day clichés.

In my own journey, I’ve learned the 7th house is less about romance and more about reflection. It’s the realm where we meet our mirrors, both beautiful and brutal. It’s where the universe whispers: “This is who you are through the eyes of another.”

What the 7th House Rules:

Traditionally ruled by Venus and connected to the sign of Libra, the 7th house governs:

Committed partnerships (marriage, long-term romantic relationships)
Business partnerships and contracts
Legal agreements and negotiations
Open enemies (those who challenge us publicly, not the hidden enemies of the 12th house)
How we relate to others, not fleeting, surface-level interactions, but the deeper energetic bonds
Projections (the parts of ourselves we unconsciously disown and place onto others)

It’s the house of “you and me”, but more accurately, “me, through you.”

How the 7th House Expresses Itself in the Birth Chart:

Where the 1st house is the “I,” the 7th house is the “Thou.” It sits directly across from the Ascendant, forming the axis of identity vs. relationship.

When we look at the 7th house in someone’s natal chart, we’re looking at:

Their karmic lessons around balance, intimacy, vulnerability, and dependency vs. sovereignty

To me, this house always feels like a spiritual classroom, every relationship is a teacher.
